Polyurea
Secondary Containment / 4,500 sq. ft.
May 2001
Key West Airport needed to re-coat their secondary containment areas. The existing painted surface was leaking and cracking after 13 months of being resurfaced.
Polyurea was chosen because of its proven history in the containment field. Unlike other systems, Polyurea with its high elongation repairs existing cracks and resists future cracking with rapid set up and cure time. Key West never experienced any downtime, saving them from any lost revenue.
The containment area was water blasted to remove the failing painted surface. The cracks were repaired and a solvent free primer was applied as required. 80 mils of polyurea were applied with a slip resistant texture. D.E.P. inspection was passed and has passed every year without fail.
